We hope that you were successful in downloading. VCarve Pro into your personal computer and have gone through the 3 tutorials we provided to get you started. Hopefully, you have forged ahead and are learning much more about drawing on your new program.
Instead of diving into more drawing tutorials this week, we would like to get you started on how to get your files ready to be cut out on the new Laguna Plasma Machine when the shop reopens on May 4 (tentative date). A lot of our members cut the same files over and over and do not have the need to draw new ones. The problem with the old files is they came from a .dxf format. This format causes patterns to have a large number of nodes in the drawings. VCarve Pro eliminates these extra nodes which are hard on a machine while it is cutting out the pattern.
Attached are instructions on how to take your .dxf files, clean them up (eliminate a lot of unneeded extra nodes) and save the new .crv files. Then the trained cutter you work with can toolpath and post process your file for cutting, in the shop, on the Laguna machine. Later you will learn that drawing with VCarve Pro does not require the use of a .dxf file, or SheetCam anywhere in the process.
Please see the attached instructions on how to take your file through the process. Also, you may wish to watch:
One last thing, if you do not find these emails helpful, please reply back to education@scwmetalclub.com and we will remove you from the mailing list. Remember, currently, you can still use our old method and old .tap files to cut using the Blaze machine.
Thanks for your work learning VCarve Pro! Let us know if you have any questions.
