General Membership Meeting Minutes

Thursday, January 8, 2026

Meeting called to order by President Lee Schwartz at 11:00 am; 70 members were present (quorum of 50 was met).

A motion to approve December 11, 2025, minutes was made by Mike Bell #978, seconded by Paul Burrier #634. Motion carried.

Lee reported current club financial information as Mike Czaiko could not attend the meeting. He summarized major club expenses for 2025 and commented that our financial position was similar to 2024 year-end and remains strong for our club.

Old Business: There was no Old Business from the floor.

New Business: The following items were reviewed:

• Lee reported a theft incident at the club in the back yard area on the night of Jan. 1, 2026. A bucket of brass and other small items were taken from the Conex storage trailer area over the back wall along the wash area. The incident was reported to the Rec Center and Maricopa Sheriff office. The club supplied security camera footage to assist in the case.
• The club is searching for a buyer for the Blaze plasma cutting machine. A recent potential buyer did not work out. If anyone knows of someone who would be interested in the machine, please see Lee.
• The Rec Center planted (5) trees around the outside club area to replace those damaged in prior storms.
• The Lincoln welder has been repaired; all welders are working and available for use. Welding classes are being scheduled. Check the class clipboards for further info.
• The 2026 dues renewal process is proceeding very well. To date, 300 members have renewed; about 70% have renewed online. Most members are voluntarily contributing the $2 credit card processing fee. Lee thanked those involved for a smooth, easy process to renew dues and lockers for 2026.
• Rolling tool carts along the back wall of the building should not have any metal or other items on or near the carts. Please make sure your name is on your cart, remove any unused material, see Griff with any questions.
• The Nomination Form for new Board positions for the 2026/2027 term will be posted after today’s meeting. The slate will be finalized at the February 12, 2026, meeting. Uncontested positions will be accepted; contested positions will be voted via online process administered by the Rec Center. The term for the new board will be from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. Members are encouraged to apply for these positions.
• The Chili Cookoff luncheon will be held following the Feb. 12, 2026, General Meeting. Guests are invited to attend. Mike Bell is seeking members for a 4-person Chili Judging Committee. See Mike if you are interested. Members who would like to join the Social Committee are encouraged to see Wendi Boos or Mitzi Larson for more info.

Lee closed the meeting looking forward to another great year at the Metal Club. No further comments or questions were raised by the members.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 11:20 am by Mike Bell #978, seconded by Paul Burrier #634 – all were in favor.
