Meeting called to order by President Dave Price at 10:30a.m.– 64 members were present (quorum of 50 members met).
A motion to approve the March 9, 2023, minutes was made by Don Mellum #583, seconded by Ken Booth #1182. Motion carried.
Joe reported the club’s finances in the checking and money market accounts.
Dave explained that per club bylaws, purchases over $2500 require a membership vote. A membership vote is required for the purchase of the Ellis Band Saw for $4800. Phil Corbell #826 made a motion to purchase the saw for $4800, seconded by Thomas Blair #2341. Sixty-three members were in favor, one member opposed; motion carried to purchase the new horizontal band saw.
Dave presented a Powerpoint overview of various club equipment updates and current shop projects. He announced the winners of the ‘Name Game’ to rename the Laguna machine. The new name is ‘Phoenix’ and the (5) members who submitted that name will receive a $10 cash prize from the club (Tom Wrona, Chuck Ulbricht, Patrick Weigel, Tom Weaver, Mike Bell).
Dave also requested volunteers for the Saturday sweeping crew, Metal Club tour guide for the monthly Rec Center tours, and IT staff.
Wendi presented a summary of class instructor data from Sept. 1, 2022 to date:
Wendi gave an overview of each instructor to share class information with the membership. Everyone thanked our instructors for volunteering their time and knowledge with our club. Cake, coffee and bottled water were provided following the meeting to recognize this important group for the Metal Club.
Dave wished our snowbird members safe travels as we transition to the summer season at the club.
Club members complimented the Powerpoint presentation which included photos of equipment, club members, operating and safety tips.
A motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:15am was made by Don Mellum #583, seconded by Art Tinkle #1785, all were in favor.
