Meeting called to order 11:00a.m. by President Lee Schwartz. Present: Rod Flack, Joe Faraone, Ken Booth, Wendi Boos, Dave Price, Larry Mann, Terry Hurst, Pat Frantz.
Approval of Minutes: Rod made a motion, seconded by Ken to approve the January 3, 2025, minutes - all were in favor.
Treasurer’s Report: Joe provided a recap of club finances; 503 dues renewals and 28 new members to date. The club has collected $432 in voluntary processing online fees. Class revenue is $4,000 to date based upon high participation among members.
Milling Machine Repairs: Rod recapped the steps that have taken place to repair the 3-Axis Milling machine computer system. The mill is too old to handle newer software. The current quote is $9800 to install a new software console including calibration, travel and service by Heidenhain tech reps which will include a warranty period. It is the only 3-Axis machine in the shop which can be programmed for the x-y-z axis (the 2-Axis machine is manual).
Lee explained that a membership vote is not required as this is a repair expense. Lee will inform the members at the upcoming General Meeting and ask for any comments. Pat expressed concern that the membership be informed about this cost which Lee agreed and will cover at the meeting.
Terry made a motion, seconded by Dave, to purchase this 3-Axis milling machine repair for no more than $10K. All were in favor. The repair will move forward after input from the General Meeting.
Board Elections for 2025: The Nomination Form will be reviewed at the Feb. 13 General Meeting. Each position has a nominated candidate. Nominations from the floor will be accepted, then the slate will be closed. Electronic voting administered by the Rec Center will take place to elect any contested Board positions. The new 2025/2026 Board terms will begin April 1st.
Agenda for General Meeting: Lee would like to recognize the members at the meeting who complete Work Order projects for the community. Some art sellers have made contributions to the club which will be shared at the next meeting. Jack Thielke will give a brief update on the Foundry area. Norm Muzzy will provide an update on education and training activities in the club.
Roundtable: Larry asked that members be reminded about proper use of the Paint Booth – members should read and follow the instructions posted in the area. The Rec Center completed repairs on the spot welder wiring system. Wendi reported that the Chili Luncheon is well received, and participation is high for this event.
