Meeting called to order 10:30a.m. by President Lee Schwartz. Present: Rod Flack, Pat Frantz, Joe Faraone, Wendi Boos, Terry Hurst, Larry Mann, Dave Price; Ken Booth was absent.
Approval of Minutes: Motion made by Larry, seconded by Rod to approve April 5, 2024, Meeting Minutes - all were in favor.
Treasurer’s Report: Joe provided a recap of club finances and a report on club revenue and expenses to date that shows a downward trend of revenue during the summer months. After a discussion, all agreed to take advantage of price breaks when ordering metal, confirm current stock has been depleted prior to placing metal orders, and members should not add additional inventory stock when placing metal orders.
We will discuss work order income at the next Board meeting.
President Update: Lee reviewed Clubtrack reports that show we have 536 current members with a 22% participation rate during the month of August.
Lee has been in contact with Tom Jones from PRIDES regarding fabrication of a gate extension at their storage area to prevent theft. The project was approved by the SCW Foundation which owns the PRIDES building. We will fabricate the fencing; PRIDES will paint and install the fencing.
Club Dues for 2025: Discussion about the possibility of raising club dues took place; no changes will be made at this time. New members will continue to pay $100; member dues will remain at $35 per year; lockers at $20 per year.
Metal Storage Rack Update: The metal storage rack has been moved to the Connex trailer which opens up the area in the annex. Plans are moving forward for the Rec Center to install 220-volt service in that annex area. We will add to the Monitor Open/Close Checklist to unlock/lock the Connex trailer on a daily basis.
Burn Area Improvements: Larry reported that new valves, hoses, and other improvements have been completed in the burn area with positive comments from club members.
The Tank Farm area should be unlocked throughout the day as a safety measure – the poster will be modified with this change.
Paint Booth Update: Lee reported that Sarge Raddatz has cleaned the glass and other areas in the paint booth, which was a significant improvement. Lee would like to recoat the booth with a special coating; David commented we may have this paint available in the club. The Rec Center will be contacted to unlatch the lights in the booth for cleaning.
Orientation Sessions: Terry and Dave stated that new member orientation sessions will move to Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm twice a month. All were in agreement.
Monitor Desk Improvements: Wendi discussed painting the Monitor Desk and adding metal art to give the area a fresh look for visitors and tours. All agreed to proceed with these plans.
Rec Center Newcomers Event: We will participate in this event on Oct. 23, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm at Palm Ridge. Wendi will arrange details closer to this date.
Brats & Burger Lunch: All agreed that the Thank You luncheon on August 29/30th was well received by our members. Plans for a Brat/Burger Lunch to welcome back members in early November will be planned.
Roundtable: Pat shared an idea to increase Monitor participation by having plasma cutters monitor for a few hours based upon their usage. He also suggested moving the metal cutting band saw to another area as it is very loud in the current location.
Terry reviewed suggestion box ideas: Reduce glare on sandblaster lighting with some type of awning or shade – this will be pursued. Change summer club hours from 6am to 2pm; this was discussed and will not be changed at this time. Consider a storage area for larger projects that are in process – possibly outside behind the annex?
Dave reminded those who need to purchase an item to leave him a note with the details; please do not just put the item on his desk.
Wendi and Griff reminded the group that we stated at the first of the year that members would be required to have 24 club visits to keep their locker for 2025. Members will be reminded about this requirement at the October General Meeting.
Motion to adjourn made by Rod, seconded by Pat. The meeting adjourned at 11:30 am.
