Meeting called to order 10:30a.m. by President Lee Schwartz. Present: Pat Frantz, Terry Hurst, Joe Faraone, Wendi Boos, Dave Price, Larry Mann – Absent: Rod Flack, Ken Booth.
Approval of Minutes: Larry made a motion, seconded by Terry to approve the November 8, 2024, minutes - all were in favor.
Treasurer’s Report: Joe provided a recap of club finances.
It was agreed to offer the online 2025 Dues Renewal for the standard $35 dues and $55 dues/locker; we will also offer a voluntary fee ($2) to cover the club’s credit card processing cost: $37 for dues and $57 dues/locker. We will try this approach for 2025 online dues renewal as a pilot program. No changes in cost will be made if members renew their dues with a credit card at the club – this only applies to online dues/locker renewals.
A revised Work Order form was reviewed that indicates ‘minor’ repairs with no shop charge and ‘major repair/fabrication’ with a $20 minimum shop charge. All were in favor of this revised form.
Milling Machine Repairs: The 3-Axis Milling machine computer processing software was not working; the technician came out for a service call ($518) and confirmed that a new processing card was needed. Rather than spend $15K to purchase a new machine, a processing card was purchased on E-Bay for $2,782, which has a 60-day guarantee period. The processor will be shipped next week.
Paint Booth Update: Rod Flack, Sarge Raddatz, Lee Schwartz, Larry Mann, and others did a great job coating the booth walls, painting the floor, cleaning up the glass windows, the Rec Center cleaned the Paint Booth lighting. Members are reminded to avoid spraying paint on the walls to keep the booth clean and neat.
Locker Visits Less Than 24: Wendi reviewed the list of members with less than 24 visits to maintain a locker in 2025. There are 25 members as of this date with less than 24 visits. Our communication with members about this requirement has increased our club participation rate per Rec Center reports.
2025 Dues Renewal Process: It was agreed to use the same system as last year which was simple and easy to use. An email to club members will be sent at the end of the year with more details to renew effective January 1, 2025.
Agenda for General Meeting: Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13 at 11:00am at the Social Hall (Holiday Treat Party following the meeting). Lee will remind members to sign up to become a Monitor. Our goal is to have (2) Monitors per shift to provide desk coverage and shop floor coverage.
Other agenda items include the voluntary dues processing fee and dues renewal process for 2025, $10 late fee for dues paid after February 1st, locker 24 visit reminder, new Work Order form and other updates about club equipment, etc.
Roundtable: Larry reported that the aluminum wire spooler is working well. We are also seeing a decrease in gas usage spending due to the new burner system installed over the summer (no more leaks!).
Terry reviewed a Suggestion Box submission from Mark Barger to provide a fire extinguisher at the Welding worktable area. A fire extinguisher will be installed in that area shortly.
Dave mentioned that the New Member orientation sessions will resume in January. We confirmed that the club will be closed on Christmas Day. The club will be open on New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) to begin the renewal process for members.
A Monitor Meeting will be arranged next week to review the dues renewal process, new work order form, and other closing checklist items. Lately, several items have not been completed by the afternoon Monitors during the closing checklist (cabinets not locked, air compressor area not locked properly, etc.). Also, members have been going behind the desk to access keys to equipment that should be given out by the Monitor to confirm certification status. These items will be reviewed at the upcoming Monitor Meeting.
Wendi reported that Norm Muzzy has done a great job to conduct several MIG, Brazing and TIG classes to clear the backlog before the new year begins.
Lee invited Board Members to join him for lunch at Pete’s Café following our next Board Meeting on Friday, Jan. 3rd to thank the team for all they do for our club.
Motion to adjourn made by Larry, seconded by Pat. The meeting adjourned at 11:00 am.
