Treasurer’s Report: Joe provided a recap of club finances. Joe posts club expenses on the bulletin board to inform members of club spending.
Safety/Security Camera Proposal: Terry Hurst, Chair of the Security Camera Committee presented recommendations to the Board. The Safety Committee initially identified a need for cameras in the outdoor grinding area, powder coating, and foundry areas in case a member requires medical assistance. Joe made a motion seconded by Lee as follows: Provide up to $1K for 3 cameras in the outdoor grinding area, powder coating area and new annex area including a repair of PA system to make club announcements as Phase I of the camera security process. All were in favor.
Status of Display Board & Tables: Mike Bell provided a written proposal from the Art Sellers regarding a donation to the club for the use of the boards/tables. However, the Board agreed to disband the display boards due to storage and maintenance of the boards.
Display Boards: Lee made a motion, seconded by Joe, to send an eblast to all club members letting them know display boards will be free to members on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis up to a max of 4 boards until Oct. 15, 2023. Members will have the opportunity for additional boards not taken after Oct. 15th until Oct. 31st. As of Oct. 31st, the remaining boards will be disposed. Members who are out of town can contact the club to reserve boards until their return. All were in favor of this motion.
Tables: The club has (37) 6’ tables; (6) 8’ tables. Bill made a motion, seconded by Joe, for the club to keep 12 tables and offer the rest to club members via eblast noted above for a $10 donation per table on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis until Oct. 31st. All were in favor.
Display Board Committee Update: Dave recommended reinstating the Display Board Committee to review how items are displayed on the club walls. All were in agreement. Members who previously served on the committee will be contacted to confirm their interest in continuing on the committee (Tamarra Bennett, BL Cline, Avis Acton).
Membership Dues for 2024: Discussion regarding the possibility of increasing club annual dues took place. Pro’s and con’s were discussed including a method to charge members more based upon their use of the club/certificates. Agreement to begin the dues collection process on January 1st rather than November as we offer an online payment method. Board members are asked to think about the membership dues topic and come prepared to discuss it at the October Board Meeting.
Roundtable Items: Dave noted that more Monitors are needed and setting a date each month for training would be helpful. Monitors need to commit to a frequent schedule, not just once a month.
He also mentioned the canvas awning in the storage trailer may be used as an exterior shade cover for the grinder area.
A roof for the exterior toolboxes that can fold down to provide utility access is being reviewed to provide shade cover for this area.
Dave contacted the Rec Center to install work lights outside the welding area to provide better work lighting.
The Rec Center has approved $28K in the capital budget for a control system to remotely access our AC system at the club.
Lee reviewed the purchase of the second welding machine which had been approved by the Board in October 2020 as an informational update.
It was agreed to cancel the General Membership Meeting on Sept. 14, 2023 as the RH Social Hall parking area is being repaved and a small turnout was expected for the meeting as members have not yet returned to the area. The next General Meeting will be held on October 12, 2023 at 10:30am at the RH Social Hall.
