Meeting called to order 9:00 a.m. by President James Chitwood. Present: Dave Price, Joe Faraone, Alan Green, Gary Konop, Bill Smith, Wendi Boos. Ken Booth and Lee Schwartz were absent. Guest: Kasey Huhta, Recreation Manager
Approval of Minutes: Joe made a motion, seconded by Alan, to accept the July 1, 2022, Board minutes – all approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Joe provided a recap of club finances.
Club Bylaws: Kasey Huhta reviewed the steps required to amend our club by-laws. The current bylaws have been reformatted per Rec Center guidelines and will be approved by James and Bill Schwind. New proposed changes will be noted separately for approval by the Board, Rec Center, and general membership at the October 13, 2022, meeting.
Clubtrack System: Kasey confirmed that club members who refuse to swipe in the Rec Center Clubtrack system upon entry to the club should be warned that this is a Rec Center requirement followed by progressive discipline as needed.
Sandblaster Update: Dave reviewed the status of the sandblaster. All agreed to keep the sandblaster gun with the Monitor so confirmation of what is being cleaned can be reviewed. Usage should be limited to one hour, however, if no one is waiting to use the machine, members may continue to work on their projects. A sign listing usage tips will be posted at the machine.
Storage Racks: Dave shared plans for the new storage rack which will store metal inventory in the club. Al Jeffers has offered to provide welding assistance on this project.
Mailbox Update: Alan reviewed the status of mailbox production and costs associated with powder coating, etc. Mailbox production now meets customer demand. It was agreed to spend $6800 for 500 tops produced by K2. Mailboxes will be inventoried to identify costs more accurately in Quickbooks.
Laguna Update: Joe and Alan confirmed that the Laguna is not producing cuts as promised by the vendor despite multiple attempts to rectify this situation. After a general discussion, a motion was made by Gary and seconded by Joe to sell the Laguna machine for $10K on Craigslist. All agreed to proceed with this sale. The hypertherm will be kept valued at $3K. Plans to replace this machine will be discussed at a later date.
Safety Awareness Meeting: A reminder that this meeting will take place on Monday, Sept. 19th at 4pm at the club. Board members are invited to attend.
Club Hours: A discussion about expanding club hours to include weekend hours took place. This would require additional Monitors which are not currently available. It was agreed to table this discussion to see the demand created when snowbirds return to the club in the coming months.
Unlocked Doors: Door locks for the exterior doors near the welding area have been installed by the Rec Center. Monitors have been instructed to check exterior doors upon daily club closure. The Posse has received a current list of club contacts in the event a door is found unlocked after club operating hours.
Gary moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Alan. Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
