Meeting called to order 10:00 a.m. by President James Chitwood. Present: Jim Filipiak, Lee Schwartz, Gary Konop, Don Mellum, Wendi Boos. Absent: Dave Price, Dona Lockyer, Bill Smith.
Approval of Minutes: The May 6, 2021, Board minutes were reviewed. A motion was made by Gary, seconded by Don to approve the minutes – all were in favor.
Treasurer's Report: Jim F. provided a recap of club finances.
Old Business: Lee provided an update on the club construction project. Internal fire system is complete; foundation footings are in process; APS will replace the transformer box in early November. More specific info about the overall project timeline will be known in mid-November.
James gave an update on the Safety Committee; Rich Barchman is the Chairman, Dave Price represents the Board, Bill Smith and Dennis Guenther are members. The group has met and plans to have a policy to give to the Rec Center by the end of the year.
New Business: No metal art will be sold at the club. A discussion about the best method to compensate the club for use of equipment took place. Don made a motion to raise the cost to members for metal purchases by 40% over club costs (members currently pay 20% over club costs). Jim F. seconded the motion; all were in favor. This will be reviewed at the December 2021 general membership meeting.
Wendi recommended deferring the November 1st dues renewal period for 2022 until the club reopens. All were in favor of this suggestion.
New club member fees were reviewed by Wendi. The Board agreed to increase new member fee from $45 to $100. The increase of $55 would be put towards an asset fund for the use and maintenance of $500K worth of metal working equipment in the shop. Further discussions at the December Board meeting.
Solicitation for new class instructors took place. An eblast to all club members asking for volunteers will be made; based upon response, further steps will be discussed by the Board.
James reviewed the costs involved in credit card purchases paid by the club. Discussions about members paying a processing fee for credit card purchases vs. no fee for cash transactions were made. This will be reviewed at the December Board meeting.
James discussed the need to provide the Rec Center with club financial reports as well as IRS tax forms. He will work with a QuickBooks Pro Advisor to assist in setting up our accounts to meet these requirements.
November Board (Nov. 4) and General Meeting (Nov. 11) will be cancelled. December meetings will be held (Board Mtg. on Dec. 2nd; Gen. Mtg. on Dec. 10th).
