Meeting called to order 4:00 p.m. by President James Chitwood. Board members present: Dave Price, Dona Lockyer, Bill Smith, Jim Filipiak, Lee Schwartz, Gary Konop, Don Mellum, Wendi Boos.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes from the last Board Meeting on March 4, 2021 were reviewed (April 1st Board Meeting was canceled). A motion was made by Bill and seconded by Don to approve the minutes – all were in favor.
Treasurer's Report: Dona provided a recap of club finances.
Old Business: Wendi and Dave reported that Joe Faraone has requested to conduct a VCarve Workshop after the construction project to be held possibly in the RH Johnson Lecture Hall. Interested members would bring their own laptop to the session for info about VCarve software.
Lee provided an update on the club closure for the construction project. It was agreed to close the club to members as of the end of business on May 19, 2021 so that club maintenance staff can prepare the club for the upcoming project. The maintenance team will have access to move equipment, etc. and then will lose access to the club at the end of business on May 28, 2021. Shipping containers to store club property will be delivered on May 20th. An e-blast will be issued to members with club closure dates and a reminder that members will not have access to the club or their locker contents during the closure. The club is not responsible for club member personal property.
Lee also made a motion to approve up to $30K for a contingency fund to cover unexpected expenditures during and after the com-pletion of the new construction project. Don seconded the motion - all were in favor. This proposal will be presented to the general membership for an electronic email vote.
Gary will confirm the members of the Safety Committee and will work on this during the summer to present info to the Board in the fall. He emphasized the need for a common sense approach for club safety matters and all agreed with his view.
New Business: Wendi and Griff reviewed the status of remaining outdoor tool carts that need to be removed prior to the club closure (about 4-5 carts). This reminder will be included in the e-blast about the upcoming club construction closure.
James confirmed with Board members that member and locker dues will not be refunded or prorated because of the construction closure - all were in agreement.
Roundtable: Dave asked for everyone to think of a name for the new construc-tion area so we can refer to it in our club communications.
It was moved to adjourn the meeting by Bill, seconded by Dave. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
